Atrioventricular block, second degree
- I44.1 is a billable/specific ICD-10-CM code that can be used to indicate a diagnosis for reimbursement purposes.
- The 2025 edition of ICD-10-CM I44.1 became effective on October 1, 2024.
- This is the American ICD-10-CM version of I44.1 – other international versions of ICD-10 I44.1 may differ.
Applicable To
- Atrioventricular block, type I and II
- Möbitz block, type I and II
- Second degree block, type I and II
- Wenckebach’s block
The following code(s) above I44.1 contain annotation back-references

Approximate Synonyms
- Atrioventricular block, high degree
- Atrioventricular block, high degree (heart rhythm condition)
- Atrioventricular block, incomplete, mobitz type 1
- Atrioventricular block, mobitz type 2
- High degree second degree atrioventricular block
- Mobitz type i incomplete atrioventricular block
- Mobitz type ii atrioventricular block
- Second degree atrioventricular block
Clinical Information
- A cardiac rhythm characterized by intermittent failure of atrial electrical impulse conduction through the atrioventricular (av) node to the ventricles. This includes mobitz i and mobitz ii.
- A cardiac rhythm characterized by progressive pr prolongation and shortening of rr interval until p wave is blocked. The pause after the blocked p wave is less than twice the pp interval. The pr following block is shorter than the pr immediately preceding block.
- A disorder characterized by a dysrhythmia with a progressively lengthening pr interval prior to the blocking of an atrial impulse. This is the result of intermittent failure of atrial electrical impulse conduction through the atrioventricular (av) node to the ventricles.
- Intermittent failure of atrial electrical impulse conduction through the atrioventricular (av) node to the ventricles, characterized by a progressively lengthening pr interval prior to the block of an atrial impulse.
- Intermittent failure of atrial electrical impulse conduction through the atrioventricular (av) node to the ventricles.
ICD-10-CM I44.1 is grouped within Diagnostic Related Group(s) (MS-DRG v42.0):
- 308 Cardiac arrhythmia and conduction disorders with mcc
- 309 Cardiac arrhythmia and conduction disorders with cc
- 310 Cardiac arrhythmia and conduction disorders without cc/mcc
