Ventricular tachycardia
- I47.2 should not be used for reimbursement purposes as there are multiple codes below it that contain a greater level of detail.
- The 2025 edition of ICD-10-CM I47.2 became effective on October 1, 2024.
- This is the American ICD-10-CM version of I47.2 – other international versions of ICD-10 I47.2 may differ.
The following code(s) above I47.2 contain annotation back-references

Clinical Information
- A cardiac rhythm characterized by 3 or more consecutive complexes in duration emanating from the ventricles at a rate of >100 bpm (cycle length: <600 ms).
- A disorder characterized by a dysrhythmia with a heart rate greater than 100 beats per minute that originates distal to the bundle of his.
- A tachycardia arising distal to bundle of his, with a rate greater than 100 beats per minute.
- An abnormally rapid ventricular rhythm usually in excess of 150 beats per minute. It is generated within the ventricle below the bundle of his, either as autonomic impulse formation or reentrant impulse conduction. Depending on the etiology, onset of ventricular tachycardia can be paroxysmal (sudden) or nonparoxysmal, its wide qrs complexes can be uniform or polymorphic, and the ventricular beating may be independent of the atrial beating (av dissociation).
- An abnormally rapid ventricular rhythm with aberrant ventricular excitation, usually in excess of 150 beats per minute.
