Clinical Information
- Encephalitis caused by neurotropic viruses is transmitted through tick bites. In Europe, these viruses lead to various diseases, including Russian spring-summer encephalitis, Central European encephalitis, and louping ill encephalitis. In North America and Russia, Powassan encephalitis is caused by the Powassan virus. Colorado tick fever, found in the mountainous regions of the western United States, can occasionally lead to aseptic meningitis and rarely encephalitis.
